The island mode feature tackles the major barriers for Distributed Generation (DG) in stand alone applications, where there is no connection with a utility grid or the grid does not provide quality power. It is an improved transient capability leading to more low emission gas generator sets being used in standby power applications. It also creates more options for customers to adopt clean energy to their electric power solutions. Typical customer requirements are strict in terms od loading, unloading, recovery time and/or voltage and frequency deviations during the load changes and at steady state. Island mode system operates with minimal voltage and frequency deviations and up to 25% load steps are with minimal voltage and frequency dips (5 - 10 %).
